Random thoughts from an airplane…32,000 feet up

Sometimes I wonder what our profession will look like in 20 years. I wonder if ABC and BOC will ever find enough common ground to merge. I wonder if one certifying body will become more relevant than the other. I wonder if there will be a DPO education program. I wonder if there is such a thing as too much academic education in our field. I wonder if there is a better model of education. I wonder if plaster molds will become a thing of the past. I wonder if we be absorbed by physical therapy. I wonder what insurance will look like in the future. I wonder how CAD/CAM will be used in our field. After wondering all these questions I am comforted by knowing that the field of orthotics and prosthetics needs artists. The moral of the story is–be an artist, they can not be easily replaced. (I borrowed the artist word picture from Seth Godin).
