On October 23rd, 2010 João Silva, a photojournalist, stepped on a mine while accompanying American soldiers. He lost both his legs below the knees. The New York Times have said that he never stopped snapping pictures even through his rehabilitation. On Thursday, July 28th, 2011, his photograph was featured on the front page of the New York Times.
