Nice Job! Neat Canadian Symes Prosthesis made by Sunstone Lab

Here is a few pictures of a of a Canadian Symes prosthesis (not my patient) made by Sunstone Lab. It is called a Canadian Symes prosthesis because it hinges open at the top of the “ears” of the prosthesis. (If I am wrong please correct me). The fabrication is a wonderful work of art. Nice job Frank!

My son wears a symes prosthesis. Is this very light? The prosthesis he wears weighs a ton. He is 7 years old and weighs 43 lbs.

    • The Canadian Symes is nice and lightweight and low profile. There are a couple variations but the concept is still the same. If your son is only 43 lbs. a minimal amount of composite or carbon would be needed. Thank you for finding my blog and leaving a comment. It is nice to know people are reading it.

Is the posterior door completely detachable?
