No more chipping out plaster…Use an extractor to separate the mold from the above the knee or below the knee prosthetic socket

If you enjoy the task of chipping plaster out of a test socket or definitive socket, this video and tool is not for you. For the rest of us, check out the extractor from Coyote Design. What I like about using the extractor is that I am able to save the mold. I can always go back to the original mold to make a modification without having to take the socket back from a patient.

NOTE: The extractor does not work if a Patella Tendon Bearing bar or deep underbelly is part of the plaster mold. Coyote Design claims that 80%+ of sockets can be removed without any problem.

Can this be used with foam?

    • Thank you for checking out the blog and taking the time to comment. I have never tried it with foam. The most important thing is to have the mandrel to not pull out of the foam. Give it a shot and let me know the results.
