As a Prosthetist, I am always looking for something revolutionary that has the potential to help patients become independent. I’ve had a number of patients with compromised hand strength issues. They were able to don a prosthesis but not get it off because they always had to hold down a “button” while trying to push the prosthesis off. I know many people that would suggest just using a sleeve, but I really do not believe that is the answer since the sleeve is cumbersome as well. The EOVC fits the bill for this issue. Patients are now able to don the prosthesis and, with the “flip of a switch,” they can use both hands to doff the prosthesis. I have fit four patients with this system, and it has truly allowed them to become fully independent with their prosthesis. Available at http://www.coyotedesign.com/ .
